New York Marketing Trip

On Thursday, April 4th, the 51 students of the DECA Marketing Education programs left for New York at 6 am.  The 8 hours of driving, along with the occasional rest stop was well worth it.  We arrived around 5 pm, and our first stop was Time Square.  We had time to wonder around and I ended up buying a pair of elephant print Jordan shoe laces.  After finding small creepy stores that one might try to avoid, to the major stores that are all over the country, we left for China Town.  This was by far my favorite part of the trip.  I spent the most here on knock off items from the back rooms, hidden by secret walls and doors.  After a long day here, an Italian dinner with a live performance, and a nice little pastry, we headed back to the hotel to swim.
The next day we went to our business, Rime.  It is a shoe store that Nike sends a lot of its test products, but one of the best parts is the owner is a women.  Sue, the founder and owner of the store, is the only owner of store with a Nike partnership.  She spoke to us about the high rents of New York, her struggles as not only a business owner, but a female one at that, and all the inside looks and benefits she receives as a women owner.  It was a great insight on what she has went through to get where she is.  Our next stop was Rockefeller Center, where we went to the top and took amazing pictures.  Dinner was right after, at this amazing BBQ places that fed us ribs, chicken, fries, and coleslaw.  Then we headed to the Broadway musical, Spider-Man; Turn off the Dark.  It was not really for my taste but others said they liked it.  Personally, I would have rather spent the eighty dollars for my ticket in China Town.  We didn't get back to the hotel until around 11 pm, so we went right to bed.
The next day was filled with walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, the beautiful 9/11 memorial, and taking a ferry around the Statue of Liberty.  But the day was started out with a visit to Carlo's Bakery, one of the best in the nation, where I bought a small, delicious, strawberry cheesecake.
The last day was finished off with some 5th Avenue shopping, a visit to the Nike Store, the purchase of my new hat, and a dinner at Cracker Barrel.  We sadly arrived home around 9 that night, and I can not wait to go back...

The End of THE OSPS

We finally held the OSPS at the Nat Sunday, it was a huge success.  The Boothe's were all pleased with the outcome, they had a chance to get their business out there, and helped us all out with their coupons for prom.  We performed the morph dance twice, and although it wasn't as good without the lights, I think people still enjoyed it.  American Commodore also brought their own dancers who did an amazing job and were alot of fun to watch.  The show started out packed, so many people were pouring in,  but as the day went on, attendance slowly died down.  My favorite part had to be my free tanning pass for a week, no longer going to be a Casper, ha. All in all, I feel the One Stop Prom Shop was a huge success and I hope that other classes have the chance to experience in the future as I did.

Harlem Shake

The Deca classes, junior and senior deca and the IMDD class, made a Harlem shake video.  Harlem Shake is a new viral video sweeping the web.  The idea came from one of the IMDD students after he saw the video.  He told us on a Tuesday, we planned it out Wednesday, and performed it Thursday.  It shows how fast things can move along.  It took us about twenty minutes to perform the dance.  It starts as one person, whose face can not be shown, is dancing in a room full of people.  The other people have to act as if nothing is happening.  As soon as the beat drops in the song Harlem Shake, everyone appears in crazy clothing and starts dancing crazy.  We did the video to promote one stop prom shop.  People will view the video for fun, and see morph suits and one stop prom shop colors.  Then the last thing they will see is the one stop prom shop logo and all its information.  Check it out on YouTube at one stop prom shop Harlem shake or, www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynsnTqn35TI

One Stop... Prom Shop Part 2

Our project, the One Stop Prom Shop, is helping our DECA classes learn to collaborate.  The Junior DECA is planning out the event, the overall order of events.  The IMDD class is split up into two parts, the morph team and the video team.  We also came up with the idea of the game show that the Senior DECA is now in charge of planning.  The IMDD class video team is making a stop motion video to play at the assembly that will tell about the OSPS, but also, it is meant to simply entertain the audience.  The Morph team is planning and practicing an organized dance to show, by far the best part of the assembly.  All together this assembly will be amazing when it is all put together and finalized.  Hopefully everyone else thinks so.
